We thanked Minister Freeland for the one-year renewal of the METC just a few weeks ago, and we know a multi-year renewal of the METC, as the government did in 2018, could further boost confidence and investment in Canada’s mineral exploration industry. PDAC will be unwavering in voicing how uniquely Canadian investment incentives like flow-through shares and exploration tax credits must remain well-oiled and ingrained in our financial landscape.

 

 

| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

The Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) provides students with exclusive access to a wealth of industry knowledge on various topics and fosters the development of a well-rounded geoscientist. S-IMEW was established in 2007 with the aim of inspiring geoscience students to pursue a career in mineral exploration. On April 23, PDAC hosted an evening of networking at the Sleeping Giant Brewery during the Ontario Prospectors Exploration Showcase (OPES) in Thunder Bay. Over 50 members had an opportunity to meet local PDAC Directors and staff and learn more about the association. | SUSTAINABILITY

 

To support mineral exploration companies in understanding the impact of federal carbon policies on their operations, PDAC developed a web-based GHG emissions calculator, which is designed to capture the majority (over 75%) of GHG emissions produced by a company's exploration stage activities.

 

 

 

 

Throughout Driving Responsible Exploration’s Environmental Stewardship toolkit, emphasis is placed upon planning for avoidance of adverse impacts wherever possible. Taking account of the potential impacts before initiating an exploration program helps to ensure that exploration professionals leave as light a footprint as possible during their work. | ADVOCACY

 

In response to proposed amendments aimed at increasing compliance with the short selling framework, to express support of these amendments. We also reinforced several recommendations PDAC has offered on short selling that are pertinent to the current consultation, such as instituting an alternative uptick rule.

 

 

By May 31st, certain entities in Canada are obligated to submit reports to Public Safety Canada detailing their efforts to combat forced and child labour in their supply chains. If you're unsure if your company is affected or what is required in the report, we recommend watching . This will provide you with a baseline of information to comply with the government's regulations.

 

 

PDAC addressed a written submission to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the Minister of Health on the Right to a Healthy Environment in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act Implementation Framework discussion document. PDAC seeks an evidence-based approach to healthy environments that recognizes industrial activity can occur within established standards. Read our submission .
