Jared Townsend

Jared graduated with an Honours degree in Geophysics from Curtin University and has developed expertise in deep 3D earth imaging over a +20-year career as a lead geophysicist in world-class, multilingual teams across North & South America, Australia-Pacific, and Central Asia. Before his current 6-year tenure with BHP in Perth, Jared worked in global exploration roles with major mining companies such as Barrick Gold, Rio Tinto, and First Quantum. He co-founded Gap Geophysics and held a consulting role with Terra Resources & Petrophysics. Now leading a geoscience innovation portfolio for Think & Act Differently, Powered by BHP, Jared collaborates with the world's top technical experts, start-ups, and academics to discover and develop the new resources to advance BHP towards achieving global energy and climate goals.
