Media accreditation eligibility criteria
PDAC welcomes applications from professional journalists working for eligible media outlets covering the mineral exploration and mining industry, capital markets, and/or the PDAC Convention.
Approved applicants will receive a complimentary Media Pass for PDAC 2026. The Media Pass inclusions are equivalent to an All Access Pass.
Accreditation is reserved for editorial professionals. Sales, advertising, and business development staff are not eligible. All applications are reviewed to ensure alignment with PDAC’s accreditation eligibility criteria.
How to Apply
- Review the eligibility requirements outlined on this page to confirm you qualify for accreditation.
- Complete and submit the online application form.
- PDAC staff will review your submission and notify you by email on the outcome
- If approved, you'll receive a registration confirmation email with instructions on how to pick up your Media Pass on site at the PDAC 2026 registration desks.
Online applications are open from Oct. 31, 2025 to February 19, 2026.
Eligibility criteria
Commitment to coverage
- Accreditation is intended for journalists who will report on PDAC 2026 for news outlets.
- Journalists should be able to outline their planned coverage of the event, such as interviews, live updates, features, or other content, to illustrate their intent to provide event coverage.
Media affiliation and employment verification
- Applicants must be employed by or have a valid assignment from a recognized news organization, magazine, trade publication, or broadcasting network.
- Freelancers must provide proof of assignment from an established media outlet, such as a letter from an editor, or submit a portfolio of recent, relevant work.
Editorial Independence
- Media accreditation is intended for outlets that produce original, editorial journalism—not primarily paid, promotional, or sponsored content.
- Accredited media must demonstrate an editorial focus, providing independent news or feature coverage related to the mineral exploration and mining industry, capital markets, or the PDAC Convention.
Media categories
- Accredited print outlets include newspapers, trade magazines, and wire services that publish regularly (at least quarterly) and are publicly available through newsstands or subscription.
- Eligible applicants must work in an editorial role such as editor, reporter, writer, columnist, or staff photographer.
- Freelance journalists may be asked to provide proof of assignment from a recognized publication.
Broadcast
- Accredited broadcast outlets include television and radio networks, stations, and programs that produce news or feature content relevant to the mineral exploration and mining industry, capital markets, or the PDAC Convention.
- Eligible roles include anchors, hosts, reporters, producers, editors, and technical crew directly involved in the production of on-site news coverage (such as camera operators and audio engineers).
Online
- Accredited online outlets include digital publications, news websites, and podcasts that produce original reporting on the mineral exploration and mining industry, capital markets, or the PDAC Convention.
- Eligible platforms must:
• Publish or update regularly (at least weekly)
• Feature independent, editorially driven content
• Operate as a professional news or media organization with identifiable contributors and contact information - Personal blogs, promotional sites, and hobby or enthusiast platforms are not eligible for media accreditation.
Provisional media
- PDAC reserves the right to grant provisional media status to individuals who are performing photographic or journalistic tasks, as prescribed by or as officially approved by the organization.
Privacy
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information of its members, exhibitors, event attendees and all users of its services. Read the PDAC Privacy Policy.
Personal contact information collected through the media accreditation process is used to verify eligibility and facilitate communication regarding accreditation and related Convention activities. PDAC does not share individual contact details with any third party.
Upon request, PDAC may share a list of accredited media outlets (organization names only), but personal contact information, such as names, phone numbers, or email addresses, will not be disclosed.
