Paul Bartos

A long time exploration geologist, Paul Bartos has been involved in seven discoveries: the Luz Angelica orebody, Quiruvilca district, Peru; the San Bartolome′ silver mine, Bolivia; the Chert Cliffs Carlin deposit, Nevada; the San Luis bonanza Au-Ag vein system, Peru; the Cerro Jumil gold skarn, Mexico; the Nuevo Chaquiro (Quebradona) porphyry Cu-Au-(Mo), Colombia, and most recently, the Silicon Au-(Ag) deposit, Nevada, the latter two while in the employ of AngloGold Ashanti.. He has worked throughout the Western hemisphere with major mining companies, juniors, consulting, and academia. He is the author of 34 scientific publications and the co-author of 5 geologic quadrangle maps, all in Colorado. He also designed and had built the new Geology Museum at the Colorado School of Mines. He received a B.S. in Geology from Wayne State University, a M.S. in Applied Earth Science from Stanford University, a M.S. in Engineering and Technology Management and a PhD in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines. He is currently the president of DREGS (Denver Regional Exploration Geologists Society) and the president-elect of the Mining History Association.
