John Mern

John is the co-founder and CEO of Terra AI, a venture-backed AI startup building a platform to accelerate the discovery and development of critical mineral and energy resources. John completed his PhD in the Stanford Intelligent Systems Laboratory researching methods to enable robust, high-level reasoning in autonomous systems in high-risk environments. He has worked to extend these AI methods to solve challenging problems in Earth resources both in academia and industry. Prior to Stanford, John worked as an Unmanned Systems Architect at Boeing Phantom Works, where he worked on rapid prototyping unmanned and satellite sensor intelligence platforms. John is an AWS Startup CEO Fellow and a Stanford Entrepreneurship Fellow.
