Ana Sanches

Ana Sanches is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is graduated in Economics from UFMG and Accounting from Fumec, and has 27 years of experience in finance, auditing, strategic planning and business development. She holds an MBA in Finance from Ibmec and Executive Education from Harvard Business School, Columbia University and London School of Economics.

She joined Anglo American in 2012, during the implementation of the Minas Rio project, and, from 2015 to 2021, was the CFO of Nickel and Iron Ore operations in Brazil.

In 2019, she won the “Equilibrista Award” from the Brazilian Finance Institute, IBEF-MG, as a prominent Finance Director. In 2021, she moved to London, England, and, in addition to her position as CFO of the Technical, Sustainability, Projects and Development divisions at the company's global headquarters, she also accumulated, in 2022, the role of interim director of the group's Capital Projects area. 

Since end of 2023, Ana is the CEO of the Anglo American operations in Brazil.

In 2018, and again in 2024, she was named one of the most influential women in global mining by Women in Mining.

In her previous experiences at Anglo American, she worked for eight years as an external auditor at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, as responsible for audit projects in large Brazilian and multinational companies. From 2006 to 2012, she worked at Holcim, as Controller of operations in Brazil.
