Completed his Secondary and Tertiary qualifications, including Postgraduate in Geology in Kiev, Ukraine. Specialized in Geology and Prospecting of Non-metallic Minerals. In 1999, Canga joined the De Beers Angola operations (DEBAP), having worked from 1989 at Endiama (The State Diamond Company of Angola) prior to that, as technical geologist, and Geologist respectively. In the beginning of 2002, Canga was transferred to South Africa to commence work with the De Beers Mineral Rights team. From September 2005 to Dec 2006 worked as Technical Assistant to the Head of De Beers Group exploration. January 2007 to May 2009, Canga worked as Exploration Manager for De Beers in Namibia. In May 2009, he re-joined the De Beers operations in Angola, as Planning and Technical Manager. Between 2009 and 2013, Canga was a member of the Board of Directors of the Joint ventures Endiama-De Beers (Endeb and Dando Kwanza). Between Jan of 2015 and Feb 2018, worked as Adviser to the Estate Secretary for Geology of the Ministry of Geology and Mines of Angola and Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum of Angola. From February 2018 to August 2019, worked as Director General of the Geological Institute of Angola, and from August 2019 to May 2023, he worked as CEO (Chairman) of the Geological Institute of Angola. Currently he is the General Manager for Rio Tinto Angola and Rio Tinto Exploration Angola. Canga is a Member of the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf). Speaks: Portuguese, Russian, English and French.
