In 2024, the Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) and Teck Highland Valley Copper (HVC) signed an Amended and Restated Participation Agreement as part of the HVC Mine Life Extension Project. This milestone builds on more than a decade of collaboration under the original Participation Agreement. Over the years, CNA and HVC have worked together to strengthen relationships, review outcomes, and identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement. These efforts informed the modernization of the agreement to better reflect shared priorities and evolving best practices.

This Master Class will explore the critical importance of honoring commitments within agreements between Industry and Indigenous partners. It will also share lessons learned from over ten years of implementation and the process of negotiating a renewed agreement that supports long-term partnership and mutual success.

Presenter(s): Sarah Desrosiers, Implementation Management Lead, Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) and Anna Brace, Superintendent, Community & Indigenous Relations, Teck Highland Valley Copper (HVC)
