Alex Christopher
Alex has over 40 years experience in the mineral exploration and mining industry. He is a member of EGBC, holds an Honours B.Sc. in Geology from McMaster University and Biological Technology (Science) diploma from Canadore College. Alex currently sits on the Board of TSX/NYSE listed Alamos Gold, an intermediate Canadian gold producer, where he is a member of the Technical and Sustainability Committee, and Human Resources Committee. Alex spent the majority of his career with TSX/NYSE listed Teck Resources Limited, a major Canadian diversified mining company, holding a number of management, commercial and technical positions in Teck’s Exploration, Corporate Development and Project Groups. He was appointed Senior Vice President Exploration, Projects & Technical Services in 2016 and retired from Teck in 2024. In addition, Alex previously sat on the boards of AIM/TSX listed Horizonte Minerals (2010-2020), the Association of Mineral Exploration BC (2003-2009) and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (2013-2023) where he served as President from 2021-2023. The first half of Alex’s career focused on early to advanced stage exploration, evaluations, the junior mining sector, partnerships, and property transactions. Prior to moving into his senior leadership roles at Teck, he spent over a decade on commercial and corporate development activities, including major evaluations, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic initiatives. Beginning in 2016, Alex was responsible for overseeing project studies and construction activities across Teck’s global portfolio. Alex has had significant exposure to the issues facing the industry both within Canada and globally. He has worked across a number of jurisdictions, commodities and project scales and understands the challenges facing the industry today, from access to land, to capital markets. His exploration, projects, and corporate experience allow him to bring a broad perspective to the table.
