André Xavier
André Xavier is a Senior Manager at Catalyste+, a Canadian not-for-profit organization with a 50-year legacy of delivering development projects that empower communities and promote sustainable, locally driven solutions. His work spans both Canada and international contexts, with a focus on governance, local economic growth, and sustainable development.
In Canada, André collaborates closely with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations to strengthen governance capacity, advance economic reconciliation, and support inclusive, community-led development. Internationally, he works with governments, communities, and SMEs to enhance economic opportunities, reinforce public sector institutions, and promote social and environmental governance within the natural resources sector.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia, combining technical expertise with strategic insight to foster meaningful partnerships and impactful outcomes. He is co-editor of the forthcoming Routledge volume Sustainable Mining Governance, featuring international perspectives on governance, social performance, and mine closure.
