Christelle is IFC Program Lead for World Bank Group's Climate Smart Mining initiative (CSMi), and Global Lead for Decarbonization Client Advisory for IFC Infrastructure that cuts across mining, energy, transport and TMT. Her focus is on bridging gaps by delivering climate solutions and activating sustainable finance, with projects that contribute to improving the environmental and social sustainability of clients in emerging markets, and the impact and market practice contributions of IFC’s investments. Under CSMi, she has spearheaded accessible frontier knowledge at the intersect of responsible mining, sustainable finance and climate proactivity, including the development of the foundational IFC's Net Zero Roadmap for Mining Report; Making the Business Case for the Climate Resilient Mine, a suite of mining and financier tools; and initiated the IFC's Mine of the Future Academy, a multi-country learning program on smart and responsible mining practices. Prior to joining IFC, she held a series of roles including Africa Director for Carbon Trust. During this time, she designed and managed complex regional projects for manifesto and corporate clients. Amongst others, she was the technical lead for the development of the South African Green Finance Taxonomy and has been involved in a range of other 'firsts' in SA's green finance landscape.
