Heather Ferguson

As Senior Vice President, Business Development and Corporate Affairs, Heather is responsible for corporate affairs, including stakeholder, public and media outreach, government relations, branding, and Indigenous relations, in support of OPG’s business objectives. Her portfolio also includes advancing progress on the company’s Reconciliation Action Plan and supporting the development of hydroelectric generation projects across the province in partnership with local Indigenous communities. 

Heather has more than thirty years of experience in the resource development, energy, and electricity sectors. Her career at OPG includes roles as Vice President of New Business Ventures & Electrification, Vice President of Environment, and Director of the Hydro Business Development Group. In these roles, she was instrumental in launching OPG’s electrification business and assembling the team advancing small modular nuclear reactor development. As hydro business development lead, Heather and her team successfully developed northern power projects in partnership with Indigenous communities. Earlier in her career, she worked in the Calgary office of Golder Associates, supporting clients in the mining and oil and gas sectors. 

Heather currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Atura Power, the Canadian Nuclear Association, and Electricity Canada. She holds undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Science from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.
