Sebastián Urresta is a senior communicator and consultant with over 16 years of experience in social development, sustainability, and resettlement processes. As Project Director and Founding Partner of Socionaut Inc., he has led projects in more than six countries, focusing on land access, livelihood restoration, and socio-environmental risk management.
Sebastián has coordinated multidisciplinary teams to implement social performance strategies that comply with international standards, including those of the IFC and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
His experience includes the formulation of resettlement plans for thousands of families affected by mining and energy projects, ensuring fair and equitable processes that align the needs of communities with industry best practices. His participatory approach and negotiation skills have been key to facilitating dialogue among stakeholders, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and contributing to community well-being.
With a master’s degree in project management, Sebastián combines technical and strategic expertise to address complex challenges in diverse and rapidly changing environments.
