Dr. David Zhen Yin is the Program Director and Co-Founder of Stanford Mineral-X, Stanford University's leading research initiative on AI-powered critical mineral exploration and sustainable resource development. David’s research pioneered advancements in data science and AI for mineral exploration. His work has been instrumental in addressing critical mineral resource challenges, including the discovery of one of the world’s major copper deposits. David also serves on the US National Academies Committee on Earth Resources, advising on optimizing USGS Mineral Resources Program since 2024. David received his Ph.D. in Geosciences from Heriot-Watt University, UK, in 2016. He has authored one book and tens of articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.
