What has been the most memorable experience of your career?
The most memorable experience was working for Falconbridge when I was seconded on the Frieda River project in Papua New Guinea. The project is very large copper-gold porphyry/high sulphidation system on the north slope of the main island near the border with Indonesia. The people, the setting and the geology made the experience unforgettable.
What significant challenge have you had to overcome in your career, and what lessons did you take away from it?
Avoid too much grass roots exploration and focus on advanced projects or operating mines. It is less glamorous but provides more stability and more useful experience than pre-discovery exploration projects.
