Shawn Cruickshank has held the position of Vice President, Safety & Quality for Canadian Helicopters Limited (CHL) since 2014. He is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), from which he holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, and Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology, from which he holds an Associate degree in Aviation. A helicopter and fixed-wing pilot by profession, he has over 35 years of flying experience covering the military, civilian offshore and medevac fields. As a 20-year military veteran he has extensive operational and instructional helicopter experience with both the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and as an exchange officer with the United States Navy (USN). He has worked in aviation safety for nearly 30 years and has held leadership positions managing safety programs for both the RCAF and USN and currently oversees CHL’s Safety Management System. Mr. Cruickshank holds accreditations in Aviation Safety, Accident Investigation, Risk Management, and Human Factors from both ERAU and the Southern California Safety Institute, and Helicopter Accident Investigation from the University of Southern California and Bell Helicopter Training Institute. He has been the lead investigator on several industry helicopter accidents.
