Dr. Andy Davy, Consulting Geologist - Diamonds; DIC, MOIM3, C.Eng.
Andy has a BSc in Geology & Chemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and a PhD in Mineral Technology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London. Andy has worked in the diamond industry for 48 years and was employed by Rio Tinto for 33 years. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Andy held a number of senior technical roles in De Beers and BP Minerals. He provides technical advice to clients in the diamond exploration and mining industries on ore body evaluation, grade and price estimation, diamond damage assessment, resource and reserve estimation, reconciliation, diamond sorting & valuation, rough diamond supply, assessment of new business opportunities, project studies, governance and reporting. Andy was lead Editor for an SEG Special Publication “Geoscience and Exploration of the Argyle, Bunder, Diavik and Murowa Diamond Deposits” released in 2018, and Co-Chair of a Panel of Industry Experts that conducted a review of the CIM’s Leading Practice Guidelines for Exploration, Resources and Reserves specific to Primary Diamond Deposits (2023-2025). He has given numerous talks at the PDAC Convention, the International Kimberlite Conference and the Vancouver Kimberlite Cluster.
