                                                                As Vice-Chairman, Joe is engaging with Hatch’s clients to transform their operations with innovative solutions that tackle mining’s toughest challenges. He is a Member of the Hatch Board. He also provides strategic planning and leadership for Hatch’s presence the Middle East, Europe and Brazil. 
Joe is one of the world's foremost authorities on the design, construction and operation of aluminum smelters, with more than 30 years of experience in the development, expansion and operation of metallurgical facilities and mines globally. Joe’s extensive project and operating experience have been central to his success in directing and managing project teams around the world. 
Joe is passionate about mentorship and, through his involvement with FIRST Robotics Canada, he is inspiring the next generation of innovative leaders. He also serves on the Board of the Canada-African Chamber of Commerce and the Board of the UAE-Canada Business Council.
A graduate of the University of Pretoria, Joe earned a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering and went on to earn an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of South Africa. Outside of work, he is an avid scuba diver and passionate photographer.
