Jason Gauthier

President, Chief of Missanabie Cree First Nation, Missanabie Cree Business Corporation
Sault Ste.Marie, Canada

Jason Gauthier is a proud member of the Missanabie Cree First Nation and has been Chief for the last 12 years. In August 2025, he was re-elected, which showed that the members still trusted and believed in him. He is honest, respects all cultures, and is very dedicated to making sure that all members, whether they live on a reserve, in a rural area, or a city, have a chance to succeed. Jason has worked hard to make the Nation more visible, protect its rights, and create lasting opportunities for future generations. He does this because he loves the land, the people, and Cree ways of life. He leads by example, focusing on real, measurable progress even when the work is hard. Jason is also the President of the Missanabie Cree Business Corporation, in addition to being Chief. He is still committed to moving forward with important goals for the Missanabie Cree First Nation, such as major treaty and legal issues, building new homes, growing the community, and making Nation departments stronger so they can better serve members. His goal is to build a strong, healthy Nation that moves forward with solid plans and real results.
