Barbara has over 40 years of experience in the diamond industry. After her PhD, she worked as a Principal Research Mineralogist for the De Beers Kimberlite Petrology Unit in South Africa. Since 1982, she has been based in Canada as an independent consultant in applied kimberlite geology relating to world-wide diamond exploration and mining projects in 25 countries with a focus on Canada during the emergence of its diamond industry. Barbara has trained industry and academic geologists throughout her career including as Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia and more recently offering unique opportunities to learn about kimberlites through her professional school in Vancouver.
